Welcome to West Virginia University

West Virginia University was founded in 1867 as one of the original public land-grant colleges. It is now West Virginia's major research and development center and only comprehensive doctoral-granting institution.

No university means more to its state than WVU.

Located in Morgantown, on the banks of the Monongahela River, WVU consists of three campuses—downtown, Evansdale, and the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center, which are connected by the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT), an electronic people-mover.

WVU is a unique combination of groundbreaking research, award-winning faculty, breathtaking mountain vistas, cutting-edge facilities, and vibrant students. Among our proudest distinctions are 25 Rhodes Scholars, 21 Truman Scholars, and 33 Goldwater Scholars.
